Shapeshifter 2020

Vintage: 2020
Appelation: Sonoma Valley
Varietal: Pinot Gris

The Glen Oaks Ranch is in the Sonoma Valley, adjacent to the town of Glen Ellen. This historic ranch can trace its roots back to 1862 and has a rich history encompassing Ellen Stuart, the towns’ namesake and a pre-eminent pioneer woman winemaker. Second and third generation farmers Clarence and Isaac Jenkins farm the ranch, which has the unique distinction of being on the National Register of Historic Places. While known for Cabernet Sauvignon, there is a small parcel of Pinot Gris on the cooler north side of the vineyard that creates sharp, aromatic fruit. Picked early to maintain acid, the grapes are foot tread and then cold soaked for three days to pick up color and tannin. They are then pressed and barrel fermented in neutral French oak barrique. The wine is then aged 9 months on the lees before bottling. This bright apricot rose wine will continue to pick up body and golden in color, making it a wine that’s always evolving not just in complexity but color as it ages. 60 Cases Produced
